Meet Valerie Brown
Dear Neighbor,
I am honored to represent the 1st District on the Sonoma County Board of Supervisors.
As your supervisor, I have worked hard to move the county forward to improve our quality life. I have listened carefully to the problems people like you have told me you want your county government to address.
As your supervisor, I have:
Promoted SMART by serving on the Sonoma-Marin-Area-Rail-Transit (SMART) board. The SMART rail line linking Cloverdale to Larkspur in Marin County will help attract quality jobs to Sonoma, reduce the stress on Highway 101 and lower our county’s carbon footprint. I urge you to support Measure Q on November 4th to help make SMART a reality.
Opposed Casino Expansion in Sonoma County, including efforts to put a Las Vegas-style casino in Southern Sonoma near sensitive bay lands. I oppose any and all casino expansions in the county – including the Rohnert Park proposal.
Preserved 70,000 Acres of Open Space in Sonoma County. Since taking office, I have helped orchestrate $54 million conserving open space in the First District, including such spots as 960 acres for Phase I at Saddle Mountain, 1290 acres at Calabazas Creek and the 152 acre Montini property overlooking the City of Sonoma.
Improved Public Safety by promoting forums to address gang violence, spearheaded the creation of a domestic violence court and serving on the Methamphetamine Task Force.
Made Highway 12 Safer by pushing the county and the state to make long-stalled improvements like resurfacing, new streetlights, and installing “rumble strips” on Highway 12 centerlines that alert drivers when they are crossing into oncoming traffic. I also lead the way for new bike paths and sidewalks along Highway 12 from Verano down to Aqua Caliente.
If you have any questions about these or any other issues, feel free to give me a call at (707) 292-9659.
On November 4th, I humbly ask for your vote to keep our county moving forward.
Valerie Brown
